Finally I was able to add “Os Desafinados” screencaptures to our gallery. And I cound’t stop capping. It’s a WONDERFUL movie, with greact actors that I’m really fan (as Claudia Abreu, Selton Mello, Alessandra Negrini), great songs, great locations, great direction. It’s a movie to see, to smile, to cry, to sing together… If you haven’t saw it yet, rush rush.
Variety: An affectionate if pokey tribute-cum-love letter to the sublime musical art of bossa nova, vet helmer Walter Lima Jr.’s “Out of Tune” dramatizes the rocky course of Os Desafinados, a combo that hits its’60s stride, only to run afoul of Brazil’s political fortunes. Pic exercises a strong grasp of musicians’ aspirations and social realities, though the script’s over-elaborate flashback structure and melodramatic tendencies hold it back. Local May release will be boosted by star Rodrigo Santoro’s name, with some European club dates — more in fests than commercial theaters — to follow.

Added scans of a Brazilian magazine, “Pipoca Moderna”, with 4 pages talking about “Che”.
There’s no Rodrigo picture and the article it’s in Portuguese. But here’s some excerpts:
Che not counted with the American financing. “It is a Spanish film”, explains the producing Laura Bickford, who came to Sao Paulo with Del Toro and Rodrigo Santoro to promoting the movie. “It is spoken in Spanish, was shot part of Spain and performed through help of Spanish TV”.
But even so couldn’t have scenes captured in Cuba, thanks to the embargo of the USA. “We shot in Bolivia in all places where Che was. The party which is happening in Cuba was filmed in Porto Rico”, she said, recalling that, as Americans, could not film in Cuba. “No American has permission to do business in Cuba, but they enabled us to do research and talk with people who lived that history”

Santoro admitted that has already had a t-shirt with Che in it. The entry of the actor in the project was curious. He told it was aware of the project for five years – production is a Soderbergh’s dream of eight years. “I’ve wanted to do a test, but the director was not making tests with actors, but interviews. Luckly I have lost the deadline. It was then that the producer Laura Bickford took a photo of Raoul Castro and tried to convince Steven that I was the twin lost brother of Fidel’s brother”. Santoro still show us the argument used to convince Steven. “I have said, ‘C’mon Steven, you have actors representing all Latin America, but has no one in Brazil, which is the largest country of the continent’. Efforts have result, but the role initially had only a speech. “Well, you know that I do not have problems with this”, he plays with brazilian journalists.
He was talking about all criticism he has suffered when he did “Charlie’s Angels”, when he didn’t a single speech.
